Certification data reporting mandatory from 1 July 2018

22 Jun 2018
The Secretary’s Order to introduce mandatory data reporting by A1-A3 certifiers and local councils has been gazetted.

Data reporting will be mandatory from 1 July 2018.

To enforce compliance, the Building Professionals Board will focus on education in the first six months to help certifiers and councils meet requirements.

The Order, issued by the Secretary of the Department of Finance, Services and Innovation:

  • defines relevant terms
  • sets the data fields and timing/frequency of reporting
  • specifies the approved methods to report data.

Note: Earlier communications advised that data would first need to be reported for a building work when the PCA was appointed. In response to your feedback, the first trigger for data reporting is now two days before building work commences. This also aligns with the PCA’s notification duties under the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act.
